The Tamil Nadu government has announced that a statue of India’s former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, will be erected near the Anna University campus in Chennai. The Press Department of Tamil Nadu Government is responsible for the construction of the statue, which is a tribute to Kalam’s contributions to the field of science and technology.
The Minister of Tamil Language and Culture, M. P. Saminathan, announced the news, stating that the statue would be a source of inspiration for students and the public. Kalam, also known as the “Missile Man of India,” was a distinguished scientist and aerospace engineer who served as India’s President from 2002 to 2007.
The statue is set to be a larger-than-life bronze sculpture of Kalam, standing at a height of six feet. The initiative is a part of the Tamil Nadu government’s efforts to promote the legacy of the renowned scientist and his contributions to the nation.
Kalam’s connection to Anna University is also significant. He served as the Chancellor of the university from 2001 to 2011 and played a crucial role in shaping the institution’s research and development activities. The university has also established the Abdul Kalam Technological Innovation National Fellowship in his honor.
The erection of Kalam’s statue near Anna University is a fitting tribute to his life and achievements. It will serve as a constant reminder of his vision and dedication to the progress of the nation, inspiring generations to come.
