Lab, RAMBAAN, Takes Center Stage at G20 Meet

India’s innovative approach to healthcare was showcased at the second G20 Health Working Group Meeting in Goa with the display of the country’s first mobile BSL-3 laboratory, RAMBAAN. Developed in India, the mobile clinic is equipped with GPS technology, allowing it to reach remote regions to carry out testing, and transfer reports instantly. The technology is especially significant in insurgency-struck countries, where transportation problems hinder healthcare delivery.

The RAMBAAN, which can serve as a model for other countries, is designed to overcome challenges in far-flung areas with challenging weather patterns. The lab is part of India’s efforts to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure and preparedness for emergencies.

The G20 meeting in Panaji is attended by over 180 delegates from 19 G20 member countries, 10 invited states, and 22 international organizations. India’s G20 Presidency has prioritized three areas of health: Health Emergencies Prevention, Preparedness, and Response, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR); Strengthening Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector; and digital health.
