The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has warned of severe heat wave conditions in three mandals in the state on Thursday. The heat wave conditions are expected to prevail in 125 more mandals today.
According to the APSDMA, Komarada and Parvatipuram mandals in Parvatipuram Manyam district and Kotananduru in Kakinada are likely to experience severe heat wave. Meanwhile, Inkollu mandal in Bapatla village is expected to record a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
B R Ambedkar, the managing director of APSDMA, advised people to take necessary precautions in view of the scorching heat. This includes avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and wearing loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
Heat waves can have serious health consequences, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing medical conditions. Symptoms of heat exhaustion can include heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, headache, and nausea, while more serious cases of heat stroke can cause confusion, seizures, and even loss of consciousness.
The APSDMA has also advised people to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day and to keep their homes cool by using air conditioning or fans, or by keeping windows and doors closed during the hottest parts of the day.
It is important for everyone to take these precautions seriously to prevent heat-related illnesses and to stay safe during this extreme weather event.
