Kane's Double Leads England to Easy Win Over Malta in Euro 2024 Qualifier

England continued their flawless run in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Malta at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium on Friday night. Harry Kane scored a brace, while Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount also found the net, as England dominated the Group C encounter. The visitors wasted no time in asserting their superiority over the hosts, who are ranked 176th in the world by FIFA.

Kane opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a clinical finish from Sterling’s cross. Sterling then doubled the lead in the 28th minute with a tap-in from Mount’s pass. Malta offered little resistance and failed to trouble Jordan Pickford in the England goal. England had several chances to extend their lead, but were denied by some fine saves from Henry Bonello, who was Malta’s best player on the night. The second half was more of the same, as England controlled the game and added two more goals to their tally.

Mount made it 3-0 in the 56th minute with a low shot from outside the box that beat Bonello at his near post. Kane then completed his double in the 71st minute with a header from Luke Shaw’s cross. England are now six points clear at the top of the group, having won all four of their games so far. They have scored 14 goals and conceded none in their qualifying campaign. Malta remain bottom of the group with no points and no goals. England will face their toughest test in the group when they host Italy at Wembley on Tuesday. Italy are second in the group with two wins and two draws. Malta will travel to Ukraine, who are third in the group with one win and three draws.
