Zomato, the food delivery company, has launched a new feature on its app that enables customers to tip the chef and kitchen staff of restaurants. This feature, called ‘Tips for Kitchen Staff,’ aims to show appreciation for the food prepared by the restaurant. Zomato’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal, introduced this initiative.
Here are the key details:
Purpose: The feature allows customers to express their gratitude and appreciation for the kitchen staff’s efforts in preparing their meals.
How It Works: Customers can choose to tip a percentage of the item value, ranging from 3 percent to 10 percent, to the kitchen staff. The entire tip amount will be credited to the restaurant, and the restaurant management will distribute the full amount among the kitchen staff.
No Commission: Zomato will not retain any commission from the tip amount; it will be entirely passed on to the restaurant.
Positive Response: Many users on social media have applauded this new feature, viewing it as a way to recognize the often unsung heroes in the restaurant industry.
This feature follows Zomato’s introduction of a tipping feature for delivery executives in June 2018.
Zomato’s initiative reflects a growing trend in the food industry to appreciate and reward the hard work of kitchen staff, who play a vital role in ensuring customers’ dining experiences are exceptional.
