India Triumphs in Shooting at Asian Games 2023

India celebrated a double victory in the 10m Air Pistol Women’s Final at the Asian Games 2023. Palak secured the gold medal while Esha Singh clinched the silver, adding to India’s remarkable achievements in the shooting discipline.

Palak, an 18-year-old sensation, not only claimed the gold but also shattered the games record with a winning score of 241.2 on Friday. This remarkable feat marked her fourth medal, contributing to India’s impressive tally of 17 medals in shooting at Hangzhou.

Esha Singh, a prominent figure in the Indian women’s 10m air pistol team, played a pivotal role in this achievement alongside Palak and Divya Thadigol Subbaraju. The trio secured a silver medal for India, finishing just five points behind China in a closely contested competition.

Esha’s success at the Asian Games did not stop here. She had previously secured a silver medal in the women’s individual 25m pistol event and, in collaboration with Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan, clinched the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event.

Despite the intense pressure of the final, Palak displayed remarkable composure as she seized the lead and left the audience astonished. While Esha closely pursued her, she faced tough competition from Pakistan’s Kishmala Talat towards the final stages.

Ultimately, Talat settled for the bronze medal, marking Pakistan’s first-ever shooting medal in the history of the Asian Games. Palak and Esha continued to compete, with Palak eventually breaking the games record previously held by China’s Qian Wiang in 2018, securing the gold.
