Google has unveiled a significant development for small business owners, introducing a feature aimed at improving their online presence. This new feature utilizes generative AI to enhance product images, making them more appealing to a broader audience.
Merchants can now identify themselves as small businesses on Google Search and Google Maps, marked with a ‘small business’ label. This distinction simplifies the shopping experience for consumers, aiding them in finding and supporting their preferred local businesses.
Google’s introduction of the Product Studio is a key component of this initiative. The Product Studio comprises a set of AI tools tailored to assist merchants in creating and managing product images. These tools include an experimental AI-powered scene generation feature, enabling the placement of products in various creative scenes. The Product Studio also offers prompt ideas, such as holiday-themed scenes, to inspire business owners.
This new service is available to all Merchant Center Next users in the United States. Business owners can effortlessly remove distracting backgrounds and enhance the resolution of product images with a single click.
Starting in November, selected countries will witness an enhancement in the knowledge panel displayed in retailer searches. In addition to details about the business’s headquarters and employee count, this panel will now provide valuable shopping information, such as shipping and return policies, current deals, ratings, reviews, and customer service information.
This development is poised to revolutionize the online presence of small merchants and enable them to compete more effectively in the digital marketplace.
