Malaysia will eliminate visa requirements for Chinese and Indian citizens entering the country from December 1, as announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Chinese and Indian nationals can enjoy visa-free stays of up to 30 days, contingent on security screening, as outlined in Anwar’s speech during his People’s Justice Party’s annual congress in Putrajaya.
The decision aligns with Malaysia’s strategy to boost tourism and spur economic growth through increased visitor arrivals and spending. Anwar, emphasizing the importance of attracting tourists and investors, particularly from India and China, had previously disclosed plans to enhance visa facilities in the coming year.
China reciprocated by announcing that citizens from six countries, including Malaysia, will be permitted to enter China without a visa. This reciprocal arrangement becomes effective from December 1 and extends until November 30 of the following year. Travelers for leisure, business, and family purposes from these nations will enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 15 days in China.
This bilateral visa-free initiative aims to strengthen cultural and economic ties between Malaysia, China, and India, fostering increased travel and collaboration.
