Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that the present dispensation at the Centre is against lower castes in the country, stating he knows this with “firm belief”.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that the present dispensation at the Centre is against lower castes in the country, and he can say that with “firm belief,” since he “knows the system from inside.”

Addressing an election rally in Haryana’s Panchkula on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi said that he has been in the (government) system since his birth and hence he knows how it works.

“I have been sitting in the system since the day I was born. I understand the system from the inside. You cannot hide the system from me. How it works, whom it favours, how it favours, whom it protects, whom it attacks, I know everything because I come from inside the system,” he said.

“When my grandmother was the PM, my father was the PM, and when Manmohan Singh was the PM, I used to go to the PM house. So, I know how the system works from the inside. I can tell you one thing, the system is aligned against the lower castes, severely and on every level,” the Congress Wayanad MP added.

Rahul Gandhi went on to maintain that people from the lower castes don’t get enough representation in various areas of public life.

The Congress Rae Bareli candidate said, “Around 90 percent of people from the lower caste have no participation, be it corporates, media, bureaucracy, judiciary, education, even the military. You just name it.”

Notably, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders have been launching continuous attacks on the Modi government at the Centre since the beginning of the elections, accusing the BJP of formulating ‘anti-poor’ and ‘anti-lower castes’ policies.

The ruling party, meanwhile, has rejected every single such claim made by the grand-old party and its leaders.
