In a high-scoring encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, CSK emerged victorious by eight runs. RCB ultimately fell short of the 227-run target despite a heroic partnership between Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis. After losing their first two wickets with just 15 runs on the board, RCB looked down and out in their pursuit of the mammoth target.

However, the duo of Maxwell and du Plessis staged a remarkable comeback, belting the CSK bowlers all around the park. Maxwell smashed eight sixes and three fours in his 36-ball knock of 76, while du Plessis contributed a blazing 62 off just 33 deliveries. Despite their efforts, RCB failed to score the required runs in the final over, as Matheesha Pathirana bowled an excellent over to seal the win for CSK. Pathirana, who had earlier gone for 43 runs in his first three overs, showed nerves of steel as he gave away just five runs in the final over of the match.

Earlier in the day, CSK had posted a mammoth total of 226/4 in their allotted 20 overs, courtesy of a breathtaking century from opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad smashed 102 off just 52 deliveries, including ten fours and six sixes, as he single-handedly took the game away from RCB.
