Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday following the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Musk expressed his enthusiasm for the potential opportunities his companies have in India under Modi’s leadership.
Musk shared his congratulatory message on X, stating, “Congratulations Narendra Modi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India.”
Narendra Modi was designated as the Prime Minister by President Draupadi Murmu and is set to take the oath for his third term on Sunday. The NDA secured 293 out of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha under Modi’s leadership.
Elon Musk had previously announced plans to visit India, but the visit was postponed due to heavy obligations with Tesla. In June of the previous year, Musk and PM Modi had a discussion in the US, where Musk expressed his admiration for Modi and mentioned plans for Tesla’s investment in India.
During their meeting, Musk highlighted Modi’s commitment to India’s development and the push for significant investments by Tesla in the country. “He [Modi] really cares about India because he’s pushing us to make significant investments in India, which is something we intend to do …I am confident that Tesla will be in India and will do so as soon as humanly possible,” Musk said.
The anticipated collaboration between Tesla and India under Modi’s administration is expected to bring exciting advancements and opportunities, marking a significant milestone in the relationship between the tech industry and Indian governance.
