"ESFI gears up for biggest year in Indian esports with NESC 2023 and 15th WEC qualifiers"

The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) has announced the dates for the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023, which will serve as a platform to select the Indian contingent for the upcoming 15th World Esports Championships (WEC) in Iasi, Romania. The preliminary rounds of the national qualifiers will be held online from March 14 to 19, with the Grand Finals commencing on March 24.

In a groundbreaking move, ESFI will be conducting qualifiers for female athletes in the CS:GO title, a significant step in promoting gender equality and inclusivity in esports. India’s elite athletes will be competing in four different esports titles, including CS:GO, DOTA 2, Tekken, and eFootball.

ESFI President Vinod Tiwari expressed his excitement for the qualifiers and recognized the growing recognition of esports as a multi-sport event, stating that it has initiated a golden era for video gaming in India. Tiwari also expressed confidence in the country’s athletes, wishing them the best and hoping that they would make India proud at the WEC 2023.

Following NESC 2023, the Indian athletes will participate in the regional qualifiers, where they will compete against participants from other countries in the Asia and Oceania region. The dates for the regional qualifiers will be announced soon.

The recognition of esports as a multi-sport event has been a game-changer for the esports industry in India, providing athletes with a new opportunity to represent their country on the international stage. With the inclusion of female athletes in the qualifiers, ESFI has taken a significant step towards achieving gender equality in esports, paving the way for a more inclusive and diverse industry. As the esports industry continues to grow, we can expect more exciting developments and opportunities for players, fans, and organizations alike.
