Following the successful rescue mission of 41 workers trapped in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel, filmmakers and production houses are racing to claim film titles based on the real-life incident. Titles like “Rescue,” “Rescue-41,” and “Mission 41-The Great Rescue” have already been registered, with more requests expected. The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) and other industry bodies have received numerous requests for title registration. However, industry experts emphasize that while registering titles is common, the actual production of films on such subjects is a challenging process.
IMPPA Chairman Anil Nagrath mentions that the office has received requests for title registrations and will review them on a first-come, first-serve basis. Chairman of the Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC), Jamnadas Majethia, points out that while many titles may be registered, only a few films are eventually made. Trade expert Girish Wankhede suggests that the rescue mission could make for a compelling movie, and actors like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn are considered suitable choices.
However, trade analyst Taran Adarsh expresses skepticism about the subject’s potential for a successful movie, citing recent examples that did not perform well at the box office.
