New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the Nagaland government to pass an order appointing Senior IPS officer Rupin Sharma (IPS: 1992: NG) as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.
Chandigarh: The Punjab government promoted seven additional director generals of police (ADGPs) to the rank of director generals of police (DGPs) taking the count to 13, which is an all-time high in the state. Punjab had 12 DGPs in 2017.
Seven 1993-batch IPS officers promoted on January 23, 2023 include ADGP community affairs division (CAD) and women affairs Gurpreet Deo, chief director vigilance bureau Varinder Kumar, ADGP human resource development Ishwar Singh, ADGP PSPCL Jitendra Kumar Jain, ADGP policy and rules Satish Kumar Asthana, ADGP Railways Shashi Prabha Dwivedi and ADGP internal security RN Dhoke. ADGP law and order Arpit Shukla is the only 1993-batch IPS officer whose promotion has been deferred due to a case in the Punjab and Haryana high court.

Chandigarh: The whistleblower IAS Officer Ashok Khemka (1991: HY) has written a letter on January 23, 2023 to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and offered to ‘to root out corruption’ with a stint in the Vigilance department. In his letter to CM, Khemka said that he sacrificed his service career in his zeal to end corruption. While there is not enough work in his present posting — the Archives department — some officers are overloaded with multiple charges and departments due to which they are always fire-fighting. In the letter Khemka wrote “lopsided distribution of work does not serve public interest.”

New Delhi: Officers and all ranks of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) mourned the sad demise of former CBI Director Rajendra Shekhar and prayed to the Almighty to provide the family strength, succour and fortitude to bear with the tragedy. Rajendra Shekhar (Retd IPS: 1957: RJ) served the CBI for about 14 years in different capacities. He served as Director, CBI from 11.01.1990 to 14.12.1990. He was the 11th Director of CBI after its formation in 1963. He held important positions in Rajasthan Police including the post of DGP.
Rajendra Shekhar, a highly decorated officer with true professional acumen, was an alumnus of Mayo College, Ajmer and St Stephens College, Delhi. He had also authored several books.
