In an effort to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens and women, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the continuous pension reforms introduced since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure. Speaking at the 33rd Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies (SCOVA) meeting, Dr. Singh emphasized the use of advanced technology tools to facilitate a comfortable living for these demographics. The Department of Pension, under PM Modi, has evolved into a reform-oriented entity with significant social implications, focusing on women-centric policies and empowerment.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Jitendra Singh outlined reforms benefiting divorced daughters eligible for family pension and expedited family pension for missing employees under NPS. Even in cases of a government servant’s demise before completing 7 years of service, family pension is ensured. Notably, the Department resolved pension-related concerns for Divyangs, further contributing to an improved quality of life.
Dr. Jitendra Singh urged SCOVA, comprising 15 non-official members and official members, to provide suggestions for the department’s benefit. The Minister highlighted the introduction of a single pension form, simplifying the process based on his recommendation. Additionally, he commended the Jeevan Praman (Digital Life Certificate) launched in 2014, offering pensioners an online option for certificate submission.
Proudly sharing advancements, Dr. Singh highlighted the “Face-Authentication Technology” for submitting life certificates via any Android smartphone. Collaborations with banks and the BHAVISHYA platform for online pension processing further exemplify the Department’s commitment to ‘Ease of Living’ for pensioners.
The Nation-wide Pension Adalat, presided over by Dr. Jitendra Singh, covered grievances from various ministries, resolving 60% of the 105 cases on the spot. Redressing pensioners’ grievances remains a high priority for the Modi Government, with Pension Adalats serving as an effective platform for speedy resolutions.
In conclusion, the focus on technological innovation and policy reforms reflects the commitment of the Department of Pension to ensure the well-being and ease of living for elder citizens in India.
