In a significant development in the ongoing NEET examination scandal, confessional letters from students and their relatives have revealed extensive irregularities. Anurag Yadav, a NEET candidate, admitted that the leaked question paper provided to him matched the actual exam paper. His confession letter, accessed by India Today, implicated his uncle, an engineer at Bihar’s Danapur Town Council, in orchestrating the leak.
Another student, Abhishek Kumar, and his father, Awdhesh Kumar, also submitted confessions. Abhishek identified two individuals, Amit Anand and Nitish Kumar, as sources of the leaked paper, which matched the actual exam. Awdhesh admitted to bribing officials, signing two blank cheques for a Rs 40 lakh deal to ensure his son’s success in the exam.
These revelations come shortly after India Today uncovered documents suggesting the involvement of a ‘Mantri Ji,’ who allegedly facilitated the stay of the accused at a government bungalow in Patna.
In response to these allegations, the Union Education Ministry has sought a detailed report from Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of examinations and vowed strict action against any individual or organization found involved.
The NEET UG exam, held on May 5 across 4,750 centers, saw participation from around 24 lakh candidates. Originally scheduled for June 14, the results were announced early on June 4, due to the expedited evaluation of answer sheets.
