A programme has been sanctioned to provide drinking water under three combined water supply schemes in Ramanathapuram, Dindigul and Tiruvallur districts of Tamil Nadu under the state-Centre sponsored Jal Jeevan
mission at a cost of 4,195 crore.
An order issued by the government on Wednesday said a single comprehensive scheme would be implemented for two districts to benefit 30 lakh people and to provide 3.19 lakh household connections. It covers Ramanathapuram and Keelakarai municipalities, five town panchayats and 2,306 rural habitations.
“In respect of Dindigul district, Oddanchatram municipality, Keeranur and Neikkarapatti town panchayats and 1,422 rural habitations in Palani, Oddanchatram, Thoppampatti, Vadamadurai, Vedasanthur, Dindigul and Reddiarchatram panchayat unions are covered under the project with river Cauvery as source” said an order.
