The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a significant step forward in the investigation of the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru. On Tuesday, the agency detained an individual named Shabbir, hailing from the Cowl Bazaar area in Ballari, for questioning in connection with the blast.

Suspicions arose regarding Shabbir’s potential involvement in or knowledge of the blast, prompting the NIA to detain him based on his recent travel history. This development marks a crucial phase in the ongoing probe into the tragic incident.

Last week, the NIA, in collaboration with the Central Crime Branch, detained a cloth merchant from Kaul Bazaar in Ballari and a member of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) as part of their joint investigation. It is believed that one of the detainees, an active PFI member, may have been complicit in the planning of the blast.

The detained PFI cadre is suspected of having close ties with certain terrorist organizations, and there are indications that he may have influenced individuals, including the perpetrator of the bombing.
