Pioneering Collaboration: Rabbit R1 and Perplexity AI Lead the Way in AI Assistant Tech

In a significant move post-CES ’24, Rabbit’s R1, the pocket-sized AI gadget that gained attention at the Consumer Electronics Conference, has announced a collaboration with Perplexity AI. The partnership involves integrating Perplexity AI’s “conversational AI-powered answer engine” into the R1, enhancing its capabilities.

As part of this collaboration, the first 100,000 purchasers of the R1 will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Perplexity Pro, a subscription valued at $200. Notably, the R1, priced at $199, has already garnered significant interest with 50,000 units sold through pre-orders.

Rabbit’s CEO, Jesse Lyu, and Perplexity co-founder, Aravind Srinivas, unveiled the partnership during a live Spaces broadcast on the microblogging platform X. The advanced features introduced through this collaboration include file upload support, a daily quota for over 300 complex queries, and the flexibility to switch between AI models such as GPT-4, Claude 2.1, and Gemini.

While the R1 excels in tasks like booking rides, finding recipes, and object or people identification, the integration with Perplexity AI aims to enhance its fact-checking accuracy and provide updated answers.

The R1 is currently available for pre-order, with shipments expected to commence in March or April. This collaboration marks a strategic move for both companies, leveraging the strengths of Rabbit’s innovative gadget and Perplexity AI’s prowess in advanced search functionalities.

In recent funding news, Perplexity AI successfully secured $73.6 million in a funding round led by Databricks Ventures, featuring prominent backers such as former Twitter VP Elad Gil, Nvidia, and Jeff Bezos. With aspirations to challenge search engine giant Google, Perplexity AI continues to make significant strides in the AI and technology landscape.
