Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has become the largest Direct Benefit Transfer scheme in the world. Speaking in Varanasi, he revealed that Rs 3.25 lakh crore has been deposited into the bank accounts of millions of farmer families across India.
PM Modi expressed satisfaction with the use of technology in ensuring the benefits reach the right beneficiaries under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
During his speech, PM Modi also emphasized his vision for Indian agriculture on the global stage. He stated, “Every dining table across the world should have at least one food item or crop from India. That’s why we need to promote the mantra of ‘Zero Effect, Zero Defect’ in agriculture.”
Highlighting the international success of Indian produce, PM Modi mentioned that the ‘Langra’ mango from Varanasi, radish from Jaunpur, and Okra from Ghazipur have made their way to international markets, showcasing the global potential of Indian agriculture.
In an effort to empower women, PM Modi announced initiatives aimed at transforming nearly three crore women into ‘Lakhpati didis’, enhancing their financial independence and status.
PM Modi also released Rs 20,000 crore under the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Varanasi, providing substantial support to farmers. This installment marks another significant step in the government’s ongoing support for the agricultural sector.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the progress of the PM Kisan scheme, noting that over Rs 3 lakh crore has already been transferred to farmers’ bank accounts. He emphasized that with PM Modi’s single click, Rs 20,000 crore will be transferred to the accounts of about 9.25 crore farmers.
The event saw the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who felicitated PM Modi. This installment under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana underscores the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and boosting agricultural growth.
