Locus, a prominent dispatch management SaaS company, recently unveiled findings from their research report, “Decoding Asia’s Last-Mile Maturity,” shedding light on the state of last-mile logistics in countries such as India, Indonesia, the UAE, and across Asia. The report underscores the pivotal role of technology in driving business success while revealing both progress and gaps within the ecosystem.
According to the report, a significant 79% of businesses in Asia actively leverage technology to enhance last-mile efficiency. However, a surprising 84% lack confidence in their processes to spur growth and improve customer experiences, indicating untapped potential.
Mehul Kapadia, Chief Revenue Officer at Locus, emphasizes the need to understand last-mile maturity, stating, “Today, only 40% of businesses in Asia have scratched the surface of tech-driven last-mile prowess.” Locus aims to inspire businesses to optimize their logistics, thereby boosting revenues and delivering superior customer experiences.
The report assesses businesses based on five key logistics metrics: Last-Mile Excellence, Customer Experience, Workforce Empowerment, Advanced Analytics, and Sustainability, yielding several noteworthy findings:
India leads in Advanced Analytics (3.59 out of 5), showcasing a growing reliance on big data analytics and cutting-edge technologies for last-mile optimization.
India also excels in Workforce Empowerment (3.42 out of 5), indicating substantial investment in tech solutions to enhance the lives of delivery drivers.
The UAE shines in Last-Mile Excellence (3 out of 5), with 70% of businesses embracing multiple last-mile technologies, reshaping e-commerce expectations.
The UAE leads in Customer Experience (average score of 3.73 out of 5), surpassing the industry average.
The UAE excels in Sustainability (4.16 out of 5), followed by India (3.78), while Indonesia falls below the global average (2.55).
The report also delves into insights across various sectors, including 3PL & CEP, e-commerce, retail, and manufacturing. Notably, sustainability, though strategically important, often lacks comprehensive follow-through, particularly in carbon emissions tracking.
Overall, the analysis reveals that 49% of global organizations lack confidence in tracking sustainability metrics to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
