Two CRPF Personnel Killed, 2 Injured in Militant Assault

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) members lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries during an assault by armed militants in Manipur’s Naransena area, reported officials. The attack, occurring between midnight and 2.15 am, involved gunfire and explosives targeting CRPF’s 128 Battalion camp.

Security personnel responded to indiscriminate firing from hilltops, with militants launching bombs at the camp, resulting in casualties and injuries. Sub-inspector N Sarkar and head constable Arup Saini succumbed to the attack, while inspector Jadav Das and constable Aftab Hussain sustained injuries.

The deceased officers, Sarkar and Saini, were on duty providing security to the India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) camp. A wreath-laying ceremony in their honor took place at Tulihal Imphal International Airport, attended by high-ranking officials from Manipur, CRPF, and state police.

Former CRPF chief and current security advisor, Kuldiep Singh, vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing strict adherence to the law. He asserted that those responsible for the heinous act would face severe consequences for their actions.

Law enforcement agencies launched a comprehensive search operation to apprehend the assailants responsible for the attack. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in maintaining law and order in sensitive regions like Manipur.
